CONTINUING TO DUMP...

STILL DUMPING

I am not sure anyone's actually charting my progress but I am still gathering things and throwing them out or donating them to charity. There are two big boxes filled with baseball caps, stuffed toys, books, CDs, jackets, and bric-a-brac to go. I've not had too hard of time getting the stuff together for charity - my challenge has been to get them out into the car and up to Byres Road to the Imperial Cancer shop there. I aim to do that in the next few days.

The state of my living room has been appalling of late. It looks as though a tornado has blow through it. It's not been this bad since the day I moved in, but slowly I am getting it together. I've been warned if I don't start getting mercenary Nic is going to come over and throw it all away. So I'd better get to it before she does!

Speaking of which back to it!

FINAL DAYS

STILL DUMPING 100...

Well it's my final days of Dump 100. I've only managed about 3/4 of this feat so far. I do have a few days left - this weekend namely - to reach my target.

Today - I emptied my entire closet: a walk-in (mostly clothes) closet and managed to find a bunch of coats etc which can go. The hard part is that a few were from my mother's wardrobe and somehow letting go of them has been challenging to me - even though one is somewhat worn out and the other is so bright-yellow I never wear it! My mother always did have some questionable fashion sense. I guess I inherited that attribute from her.

But that all said, I am determined to de-clutter and start to get rid of stuff. In the process I found a gorgeous velvety blazer I don't remember ever even having. So it was a good thing to do today...

This is proving harder than I thought it would be. Will let you know. Not much more time to go.

WEEK ONE DONE

DUMP IT!

Well I am just about to go to a charity shop in Cardonald, I think. Or I might take stuff to a Cancer shop on Byres Road. Either way the compiled goods of this week are going to be out of my flat. I honestly could do this 100 times and still have more stuff to get rid of but it's a slow process for me. I wish I was much more like Nicola who is great at just junking stuff. She has less attachment to things than I do. I strive to be more like her :)

I've been making a list of all the things I am parting with. I figured I'd do twenty five items per week for the month of August (and possibly beyond) and so far on my list is more than thirty so I am doing good. I need to get much more mercenary. It's often said we only use/read/wear/listen to/ watch 20% of what we've got. I bet that's true too.

Anyway I best get cracking on. It feels great. In an ideal world - I'd have taken this stuff up to a car boot sale to maybe make a few quid but frankly I just want the clutter out of my domain now...so will give it to charity and it will hopefully make some money for a good cause!

Anyone with me here?

TO THE DUMP, I SAY!

WHAT TO DUMP?

The first week of my DUMP 100 is going slow. Week one is now over and I've gotten rid of two shirts. They were men's shirts I seldom wore and funnily enough look great on my friend Kenneth. So that worked out nicely. I have a habit of giving him stuff - even just last month I gave him a spare DAB radio which I wasn't using much...can I count that? No? Oh, ok then...

I do have a box which I am starting to fill up. In it, there is a small black purse a Q96 baseball hat, and a few bits and pieces. I have a somewhat large suitcase filled with clothes which I'll catalog and photograph as my blog evidence. I really do have challenges parting with stuff so this is a really healthy. I'd like to aim for 1000 but that may be a bit much huh? So we'll stick with 100 - that's just 25 "things" per week. Surely I can manage that.

Anyone else doing this sort of thing?

MY CHALLENGE...

This is a blog to mark the progress of my own "challenge" but feel free to join me too.

It's modelled after the 100 THING CHALLENGE that my good friend Nicola just told me about tonight....but it's a slightly different take for me, the Queen of the Dumped. I am going to "dump" 100 things in my flat across the month of August and will use this blog to keep you up-to-date of what I did...

I'll photograph stuff that's going and also show where it's gone to.

Anyone who's up to the challenge and wants to de-clutter their abode, please join me!
